This is the second book in the Perfect Gentleman series.
Connor Sparks, Dax Spencer, Gabriel Bond, Maddox Crawford, Roman Clader, Zack Hayes met at Creighton Academy in the seventh grade and ironically became known as The Perfect Gentleman. Twenty-two years later this group of boys has grown into American royalty. So much so, one of them was elected President of the United States.
The group is shaken to hear about the death of one of their own, Maddox. They are even more surprised to learn that his death may not have been an accident. In an effort to uncover the truth and stay alive themselves, the group must pull together their resources and connections to find the secret Mad was trying to uncover.
Connor Sparks is not like the rest of the group. He doesn’t come from a wealthy home. He doesn’t even come from a loving home. The only reason he was able to go to Creighton Academy was because of a scholarship program. No one knows it, but the only way he was able to attend Yale with the rest of his friends was because of sponsorship from the CIA. Now he is a special high-level operative that uses everything he learned on the job to help keep his friends safe. So now Connor is going undercover chasing a lead that might threaten his friend Zack, and possibly help them understand why their friend Mad was killed.
Lara Armstrong is not what you would expect from a senator’s daughter. She is philanthropic to a fault, and the secret proprietary of a notorious political gossip rag, Capital Scandals. When her secret informant shares highly sensitive information it puts her life in danger, requiring the services of a bodyguard.
Connor goes undercover to find out what Lara knows about the situation threatening Zack. It’s a good thing he is around, because as it turns out Lara needs protecting. But, who is going to protect Connor when Lara finds out he has been lying to her? It may take a presidential pardon to get him back into her good graces.
This story is completely engrossing. I absolutely love Connor. He is a badass that can fit in with the American royalty. I’ve read and enjoyed Black and Blake’s work as individuals. So diving into the Perfect Gentleman series was a no brainer. As a team Black and Blake have moved to the next level. The story is enticing. The characters are scrumptious. Add a bottle of wine, and you have yourself one decadent dessert.
