REVIEW: Diamond Heart

Diamond Heart by Heather Shere

by Heather Shere

This is the first book in the Desert Rat series.

Skye Devine’s family is well off. Her father is a successful business man. What her family lacks is love and support. But, Skye receives this from her close knit circle of friends. She has the attention of a wonderful boy. If she can only make it through high school, then she can leave her family home, hopefully her boyfriend and his mother will take him in.

Preston Heart comes from the wrong side of town. His family has never had much, and even less since his father passed away. He has always been in love with Skye Devine. But, Preston knows that he won’t be able to give her the life she deserves.

Diamond Heart is the kind of book that you find yourself holding your breath through. There were some very taboo topics that could have gone either way. But, Shere handled them very well, and very tastefully. The funny thing about e-readers is, without the physical book sometimes you are not aware of how much book is left as your fly through the pages. As I devoured this story, I never really knew how far I had progressed. But, I knew the cliffhanger was coming, and I had to hope that it didn’t leave me completely wrecked.

I have to commend Shere. I have read a lot of books. So, I am delighted to find that I have no ideas where the Desert Rat series goes from here. But, I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen next.
