REVIEW: Desert Skye

Desert Skye by Heather Shere

by Heather Shere

This is the second book in the Desert Rat series.

Skye Devine’s never had a great home life. After years of abuse, she ran away to Hollywood. After five years on her own she is starting to get desperate. She has always refused to use her father’s influence but if she doesn’t do something soon she will have to compromise herself just to survive.

Preston Heart comes from the wrong side of town. He took a secret job in Russia, leaving left his mother and Skye so he could make something of himself and take care of them both. When he returns he finds that Skye has run away. Now a person with resources Preston wants nothing more than to have his Skye back. As a stroke of luck he sees Skye while in Hollywood on business. After five years apart can Skye and Preston find their way back to each other?

Buyer beware, this book is an emotional rollercoaster, and there is nothing you can do to prepare. If you’re looking for a sexy and gut wrenching story with a non traditional trope Desert Skye will deliver. Shere has done a wonderful job creating expressive characters that will demand your empathy. Watch out for that cliffhanger ending. Just like with book one you’ll find yourself wondering...WTF. If you’re anything like me, it’s too late. I’m invested in the characters and the story. I have to find out what happens next. It will hit me a weird times, maybe while I’m driving or cooking. I’ll think I wonder what’s gonna happen with Skye and Preston. But, that’s what I was looking for right? Well done Shere, well done.
