By Willow Winters
This is book one in a series.
I married the bad boy from Brooklyn.
The one with the tattoos and the look in his eyes that told me he was bad news.
The look that comes with all sorts of warnings.
I knew what I was doing.
I knew by the way he put his hands on me; how he owned me with his forceful touch.
I couldn’t say no to him, not that I wanted to. That was then, and it seems like forever ago.
Years later, I’ve grown up and moved on. But he’s still the man I married. Dangerous in ways I don’t like to think about. Sexy as sin, he attracts all the wrong kinds of temptations.
The kind that lands a couple like us in the gossip columns.
The kind that’s unforgivable.
The kind that splits up marriages.
I did this to myself. I knew better than to love him.
And now I’m fucked.
I married the bad boy from Brooklyn. And I don’t know how to survive this.
Katherine is a hardworking career type. Shea has worked hard to become one of the premier literary agents in New York. Has all her hard work and long hours driven a wedge between her and her husband?
Evan is living the high life. He travels to the best places, parties with famous people, makes amazing money. Has his lifestyle come between him and his wife?
Katherine and Evan were instantly attracted to one another. Their courtship was unconventional and they grew closer by leaning on each other during hard times. After five years of marriage they’ve started to grow apart. How do you know when it’s time to fight and when enough is enough and it’s time to let go?
I am all in on this book. This is the type of book I search for. These are the kinds of books you will be recommended from me. The ones about the messy human condition. Love is messy and it's hard and timing is never right. This story is gut wrenching and like an emotional exfoliation. In real life you never know if something is worth fighting for.
This book has a bonus feature. At the beginning of each chapter is a poem that perfectly illustrates the characters feelings and struggles. It adds beautiful insights into the characters and the story. I love the poetry.
Damaged was my first book by Willow Winters. First I don’t read many books that deal with a married couple. This is a book about what happens when two people who love each other, have to fight in order to keep their happily ever after. This was an eye-opening book about what happens when two people who love each other drift apart, and the choice they have to make in the name of love.
Evan is very much the same man Katherine married five years ago. While Katherine has grown as a person and her career. Katherine wants to move on to the next step in her life. Evan is comfortable in his career and in his marriage. But when event threaten both, Evan has to figure out how to save the one that means the most to him.
Evan and Katherine story ends in a cliffhanger with more questions than answers. The second book Scarred is set to be out before the end of the year. If you're not a fan of cliffhangers then I would wait until the second book. The last two chapters are a real turning point. Happy Reading!
While I shouldn't start my review at the end of the book. I feel like it's important to do so. The first book of this duet, Damaged, by Willow Winters, ends in a cliffhanger with no known HEA.
Spouses, Evan and Katherine, have drifted away from each other. Kat with her passion for her career as a book agent and Evan as a.... party babysitter?
Evan is hanging out with the rich and famous, keeping them on a 'safe' even heel. But no party is without drama and it leaves questions for Kat that he can't answer.
I liked the theme of an already married and struggling couple. It's drama filled but still real to life that not everything is romance and rainbows.
Yet, I'm not a fan of cliffies. So if you ARE you'll love this book. But if you aren't you may want to wait until you can grab book 2, Scarred.

About the Author:
Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Bestselling Romance Author. She likes her action hot and her bad boys hotter. She certainly doesn’t hold back on either one in her writing!
Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.
In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!
