Beauty is about to tame her beast...
Researcher Maggie Donovan has no luck with men, and it doesn't help that she can't keep her eyes off of her sexy boss – the one everyone else in the office calls The Beast. Relationships in the office are forbidden. So no one is more surprised than Maggie when she pretends to be his fiancée to save him during a difficult situation. Not only has she put her job on the line, but the future of the company.
Billionaire Benjamin Gale III doesn’t believe in love or romance, but the look on his mother’s face when Maggie tells her that she’s his fiancée is worth millions. Instead of firing her for her insubordination, he goes along with the ruse. In his arms–and in his bed–she’d be everything he could ever want…which is why he can’t have her.
But if he doesn’t let her go, they’ll lose everything…
Benjamin Gale lll is as proper as his name. Billionaire and CEO of his family's company, Ben thinks he has it all, everything he can obtain, he has. That is until one seemingly average, Maggie Donovan.
Maggie is your everyday you and me, she doesn't like fancy gowns or overpriced dinners. She likes talking to herself, being herself and making Benji happy.
Maggie may have stretched the truth when she told Benjamin's mother they were engaged, even though it is a plot, Ben is all in from the jump. But when his mother intervenes into their so fake, yet so real relationship, shit starts to hit the fan, secrets become uncovered and the test is on the two people who want this more than they realize.
I was a bit leery about this book. I haven't read many successful rewrites of fairy tale love stories apart from Disney. So I really wanted to give this book a good college try. Especially with a new to me author.
I was surprised by this story because it honestly didn't have much of the Disney elements I was expecting (ex. egocentric man). The only similarity was the nickname calling the hard ass boss 'beast' but we don't even witness much of that quality in him.
The couple is a bit of forbidden lovers, having to fight against Benjamin's mom. This fake romance gets as real as they come quickly.
The inevitable fall out is thankfully quick getting back to the love story we are waiting for.
